Partnerships in Innovation in Education in BC

In recent years, education in BC has seen a proliferation of initiatives that engage, support and share about innovation in education.  We can learn from and support other learning partnerships benefitting from diversity of ways innovation is approached in education, and strengthen each by association and dialogue with the others.  To that end, Rural Education Advisory/Growing Innovation in Rural Sites of Learning have been involved with ‘coherence conversations’ with other projects that involve Ministry of Education, Post-Secondary/University and school district partnerships, among others, including teachers and student teachers.

Here are some initiatives that are ongoing (in addition to those you can find here within the Growing Innovation program, of which we are proud to be a part):

The BC Ministry of Education K-12 innovation strategy has provided for two rounds of project funding to date.

The Networks of Inquiry and Innovation (NOII) has been bringing educators, scholars, communities and policy makers together for many years now.

The New Teacher Mentoring Project (NTMP) has emerged from aligned interest within the BC Teachers’ Federation, the University of British Columbia, and the BC School Superintendents’ Association, to seek a more formalized and integrated system of support for inducting, developing, and retaining teachers in BC.

The Three Campus In Situ Teacher Education project involves Vancouver Island University, the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia: Okanagan, BC school districts, and the BC Ministry of Education.  For more, here is a video on the Three Campus In Situ Teacher Education Project.  You can follow them on Twitter too @threecampus

In future posts we look forward to featuring other learning partnerships…please share them with us by email and we will be happy to include them and share our expanding catalogue.
